Anti-Semitism is on the rise in the U.S. Violent attacks and cases of verbal abuse against the ethnic group are being reported daily. It would be too easy to blame differing opinions of the ongoing Israel/Palestine feud as a major contributing factor though it does enter into the equation. The sum total still adds up to the old adage; “A hater’s gonna hate.”
Eric Orgen was taking a casual stroll around Bal Harbour, Florida with his wife and daughter just minding their own. They were suddenly interrupted when a vehicle full of men pulled up beside them and started shouting obscenities and throwing garbage at them.
In this particular case, it had everything to do with Israel/Palestine, but the men still managed to add a pinch of hatred for good measure. Orgen said, “They just started screaming some derogatory things towards Jewish people out the window,” He said they shouted, “Free Palestine, die, Jew, Fuck you, Jew, I’m gonna rape your wife.”
Orgen said not knowing what might be coming next he instinctively jumped in front of his wife and daughter to shield them. If anyone was going to get hurt it would be him. But as things turned out, none of them were physically harmed.
This was all thanks to the driver of the car directly behind the assailants. He was witnessing the event unfold and didn’t like the way things were going down. As Orgen explained it, “The guy in the car behind them saw everything go on. I saw him pull a gun and get in between — I mean he was almost there as our guardian angel just protecting us. I think once they saw him they just took off.”
Did you hear that liberals? A guy with a gun swept in like the superhero he was. One can only speculate how things might have otherwise ended up but thanks to our 2nd amendment rights, that’s all we’ll have to do.
In just one short year between 2019 and 2020, Flordia alone has seen a staggering 40% increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes. The Anti-Defamation League said that just the week prior to this incident another one occurred in Boca Raton.
A van covered in anti-Jewish slurs such as “Hitler was right,” drove past a group of pro-Israel demonstrators as they lobbed obscenities at them. The van later plowed straight through the crowd in an attempt to disburse them.
Mayor Gabriel Groisman made no bones about it concerning the purpose for the recent escalation of attacks. He told “CBS12 News,” “It’s to put fear into the Jewish community’s hearts, and to the perpetrators of this attack, they must know that they will fail. We’re a strong community and a proud community and we stand strong with Israel and no amount of attacks or intimidation is going to work.”
The Mayor later sent out a straightforward in-your-face tweet to let people know that such actions as these will not be tolerated in his community. He said he spoke with the victims and said the Bal Harbour Police Department has vowed to catch the assailants at all costs. The department has further vowed to crack down on this type of behavior and to make examples out of any offenders they catch.
It’s interesting to note how no one, outside of telling the story, including the Mayor and local law enforcement, has made one mention of the lone gun-slinging hero who saved the day without having to fire a shot. Looking down a gun barrel did its intended job by sending the hate-mongers scampering. They don’t even know who the guy is, and furthermore, they don’t care unless it would be to say thanks for a job well done.
The gun-stance of the victims hasn’t been mentioned, but this much is sure. If they were anti-gun they’re now whistling a different tune. A good guy with a gun came to the rescue and there are way more good ones than there are bad ones. Pardon the pun, but Orgen and his family are living proof.
