Usually, when the term “impeachment” is heard, it is spoken by a Democrat, as they seem to be the only political party to ever really move in that direction. True, there have been some exceptions to this, but that has been the case for the most part.
However, Republican congressman Andy Biggs of Arizona is about to change all that, as he has just announced that he is filling for articles of impeachment. To be clear, he’s not trying to impeach Democratic President Joe Biden.
Instead, the articles are being filed against Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, according to Fox News.
Mayorkas, as you likely know, was installed as the head of the agency upon Biden’s entrance to the Whtie House in January. And since then, he has done little else besides catering to his boss’ every immigration-related wish.
As a citizen and representative of a border state that has been hard hit in the past nine months by increasing immigration problems, Biggs knows firsthand that something needs to be done. And it starts with getting rid of Biden yes-men like Mayorkas.
In a recent statement on his intentions, Biggs said, “Secretary Mayorkas is a threat to the sovereignty and security of our nation. As a result of his actions and policies, America is more in danger today than when he began serving as Secretary.”
And all the data only confirms this statement as true.
According to The Associated Press and official immigration sources, about 210,000 illegal immigrants were apprehended along the southern border in the month of July. Just the month before, apprehensions were down by some 20,000 or more. And even that was high compared to national records.
In fact, it seems the longer Mayorkas and Biden have been in control, the higher the numbers of illegal crossings and apprehensions are getting. And by now, in the hottest months of the year, that number typically drops.
All this only adds to Biggs’ frustration with Mayorkas.
As his statement continues, Biggs says that the secretary is “failing to faithfully uphold his oath of office” as well as “presiding over a reckless abandonment of border security and immigration enforcement.” And all of it is at the expense of the citizens of the United States and the laws that keep us safe.
This can hardly be denied when you think of the growing number of COVID-19 cases being brought across the southern border and placed in unknowing American communities.
Take the city of McAllen, Texas, for instance. Here, city officials have such a problem with incoming COVID cases that they have begun to set up “isolation shelters” for COVID-positive immigrants.
As Biggs and others point out, these continued health risks of COVID could be avoided if Mayorkas would simply step up and actually do his job, which is supposed to be protecting the US people.
Texas Representative Chip Roy is one of those who believes the blame for our current immigration problems lies at the feet of Mayorkas, as well as President Biden. Roy says by “blatantly and consistently” refusing to “their constitutional duty,” countless lives, both American and foreign, have been endangered.
And if our nation is to ever regain not only our health but our southern border security, Mayorkas has to go.
Now, of course, with both the House and Senate being ruled by Democrats, albeit by the smallest margin ever, it’s unlikely that these impeachment articles will gain much in the way of traction in Washington. However, as you well know, it won’t be long before 2022, and the midterm elections will be here.
And if things continue down the path we’re on, neither house will hold a Democratic majority.
That means that movements like this one to impeach leftists who are only serving party agendas and not the people they were put there to protect could just find as soon find themselves without a job. Besides, directly violating Constitutional law certainly holds a bit more sway than, let’s say, the “incitement of insurrection,” doesn’t it?
