Another Nomination From Biden- Another No From Manchin

No matter how many times ol’ Sleepy Joe tries to slip somebody into a position they have no business taking, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is ready to block his efforts. He has no desire to see Biden flood the system with his cherry-picked failures, and this latest attempt by Biden to put Robert Califf in charge of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did not go unnoticed.

Fox News Congressional reporter Chad Pergram tweeted out about Manchin’s statements. “My opposition is nothing new. In fact, it was exactly five years ago next week that I came to the Senate floor to urge my colleagues to oppose Dr. Califf’s nomination to serve under then-President Obama in the same role… In the five years since Dr. Califf was confirmed, more than 400,000 Americans, and 5,000 West Virginians have died from drug-related overdose…. Califf bears a great deal of responsibility for these deaths.”

While these statements from Manchin and Pergram’s subsequent tweets announcing the Senator’s stance on the issues with Califf are damning, it is important to note that Califf was confirmed in 2016. Sen. Manchin is spot on with his statistics about Dr. Califf otherwise. This many has no business leading the front desk of a stubbed toe clinic, let alone the FDA. He lacks the moral compass and guidance ability it takes to run the FDA properly.

Sen. Manchin explained his stance about opposing Biden even further as quoted in The Daily Wire. “With my family, I know everyone is concerned, so when you have these things coming at you the way they are right now, I’ve always said this, Bret: if I can’t go home and explain it to the people of West Virginia, I can’t vote for it, and I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible, I can’t get there.”

Being dug in against someone of the same political party is something new for American politics. While there have always been in-party rivalries, the hardline stance against the President by Sens. Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is unprecedented in American politics. Their hardened stance against the changes President Biden wants to make is incredibly divisive inside the party, with many calling for their removal from the Democratic party.

However, this division is incredibly beneficial for American politics as a whole. For ages, we have needed someone to stand up to the progressive left’s agenda of division, hate, and special interests all in the name of ‘equality’. This version of ‘equality’ is built on the principle of pulling the middle class down, driving the lower class even lower, and shoving the upper class into the stratosphere of wealth. A true have and have-not system that we have been able to successfully avoid for decades.

Mind you, the progressive left feels like we have been living in that system since the country was founded, and they have done nothing about it besides sell out their own voting pool to appease their own end goals of socialism. Their thinly veiled programs aimed at helping the lower and middle classes up have done nothing to help them in the long term. It simply makes them more dependent on the government to sustain their existence.

This experiment of guiding the US towards socialism needs to end. As is evidenced in every argument formed in support of socialism, it is a mindset and political ideal that fails miserably. It does not work as the people in charge are too easily corrupted, and those under them are left with no resources to fight back. Despite this well-documented fact, every progressive liberal you meet loves trying to sell you on the idea. In their minds, it has only failed so many times because it’s never been done right. Thank God for people like Sen Manchin. He is keeping us from trying that failed experiment.
